Choose the size of your pool table based on your room
One of the first questions you’ll ask yourself before buying a pool table is where to place it: what size should I get?
The basic rule is to add 120 or 140 cm around the pool table (this is the space needed for the cues). Don’t forget to take into account any potential obstacles (fireplaces, tall furniture, wall sections); these can be worked around by using shorter cues: 110 or even 100 cm. Furniture no taller than 1.40 m won’t get in the way at all.
Official standards vary depending on the game: 2.10 m for 8-ball (or Blackball), 2.80 m for American pool, 3.10 m for French pool, and 3.80 m for snooker. However, when choosing the size of your pool table, select the dimensions based on your available space and choose the game based on your preferences.
